Lukas Love
When Lukas was diagnosed with Down syndrome immediately after birth, I was lost. Lost in grief, lost in fear, consumed by sadness for the loss of “the life” we had expected for our baby. Beyond the incredible care we received at Clarke Memorial hospital, we were blessed with the love and embrace of our local Down Syndrome community. An amazing mama came to the hospital one night and let me cry and also let me know it was ok to cry, but that it was going to be ok. The Director of Down Syndrome of Louisville, yes the director, came to the hospital bringing a basket of love and a wealth of knowledge. We were gifted a smiles basket when we got home and the love and welcoming has continued.
Down Syndrome of Louisville is an incredible organization. They offer classes, support, opportunities to learn about research, and so much more. This is our chance to give back and support this amazing organization.
Our beloved family at the JCC, where the boys are cared for during the day has formed a walk team in honor of Lukas and two of his extra chromie buddies at school. We are overwhelmed with love and gratitude for their support. As a family we will not be able to be at the walk this year physically, but will be there in spirit.
Please honor our Lukee with a contribution to our team and to the incredible organization that is supporting our family and helping us see all the joy and potential that the future holds for Lukas.
